EMDRIA Certification Consultation
Individual EMDR Consultation
Thoughtful consultation for the places where EMDR gets complicated.
EMDR therapy does not always move in a straight line.
Sometimes a client appears ready for processing, but something shifts once the work begins. Processing may become stuck or looped. Dissociation may emerge more clearly. A client may have difficulty maintaining dual attention, accessing the body, or staying connected to the present. You may find yourself wondering whether to continue processing, return to preparation, work with a protective part, use an interweave, or simply slow the process down.
Individual EMDR consultation provides a space to step back, think through the case, and explore what may be happening beneath the surface.
Areas We Can Explore
Consultation may include:
Case conceptualization and EMDR treatment planning
Readiness for trauma processing
Complex PTSD and developmental trauma
Dissociation and subtle dissociative presentations
When EMDR processing becomes stuck, blocked, or looped
Preparation, stabilization, and resourcing
Dual attention and maintaining present orientation
Cognitive, somatic, relational, and parts-informed interweaves
Attachment adaptations that emerge within trauma treatment
Working with protective parts and self-states
Somatic responses during EMDR processing
Questions about pacing, targets, and when to return to earlier phases
Integrating EMDR with somatic and parts-informed approaches
You do not need to have a perfectly formulated question before coming to consultation. Sometimes the starting point is simply, “Something about this case doesn't feel quite right, and I'm not sure what I'm missing.”
That is often where some of the most useful clinical thinking begins.
My Approach to Consultation
My consultation style is collaborative, curious, and grounded in the Adaptive Information Processing model while also considering the broader clinical picture.
I bring 30 years of experience in the mental health field along with an integrative perspective informed by EMDR therapy, complex trauma treatment, dissociation, attachment, somatic and body-centered approaches, Polyvagal-informed work, parts-informed work, and psychodynamic thinking.
The goal of consultation is not simply to determine the “right” intervention. It is to deepen our understanding of what is happening for the client so that treatment can become more responsive, intentional, and attuned.
EMDRIA Consultation Hours
As an EMDRIA Approved Consultant-in-Training (CIT), I can provide up to 15 of the 20 consultation hours required for EMDRIA Certification. The remaining 5 hours must be completed with an EMDRIA Approved Consultant.
Consultation can be used not only to meet certification requirements, but as an opportunity to strengthen your clinical confidence and deepen your understanding of EMDR therapy. We can use our time to discuss your actual cases, treatment planning, readiness for processing, complex trauma, dissociation, interweaves, stuck processing, stabilization, and other clinical questions that arise in your EMDR work.
Individual EMDR Consultation: $135 per 60-minute session
